He received his Ph.D in Computer Engineering from the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), South Korea in 2006. He had worked for the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) from 2006 to 2019 as a principal researcher. He was a research associate in the Dept. of Computer Science at California Institute of Science and Technology (Caltech), Pasadena, CA USA from 2013 to 2014. He is currently an associate professor in the dept. of computer engineering at Hoseo university. His recent research area covers IoT, edge computing, AI and Named Data Networking (NDN) for smart vehicles. He has published more than 70 refereed papers in the areas of IoT, Information Centric Networking (ICN), cloud/edge computing, and user-driven network/computing resource control in archival journals and conference proceedings. He is currently serving as an associate editor of Transactions on Internet and Information Systems (SCI Indexed), the  Journal of Korean Institute of  Communications  and  Information Sciences.
