1. Lab Introduction

 

  Our lab aims to explore intelligent computing and networking technologies for connected things. In particular we are focusing on edge computing, AI and future networks, in order to resolve various issues on connected vehicles. As one of issues, current infotainment platform service in connected vehicles inherits inefficiencies in current Internet (host-centric network) such as data cut-off during hand-off, performance degradation in long distance data transfer, and host hacking, etc. 

  To overcome them based on a revolutionary approach, we are trying to integrate Named Data Networking (NDN) into connected vehicles, in order to provide users with essentially data-centric infotainment services. We believe it will eventually lead to innovation in today's connected cars using the nature of data-centric networking, which is to focus on data itself, not cars. As priority research items to realize it, we are currently working on following research topics.

  • Forwarding strategies in V-NDN

  • Edge computing in V-NDN

  • Edge AI for V-NDN

  • Design of data-centric infotainment application for connected vehicles
